It was first opened by Van Demen Wars from Netherlands in 1919 during the Dutch colonization. The hotel has changed names and ownership several times since 1942. In 2002, Hotel Candi Baru was acquired by SidoMuncul group up until now. Nowadays, the hotel still attracts a diverse crowd of foreign tourists due to its nostalgic charm.
